Nominator's project description
| Prof. Riecke has significantly advanced the understanding of ordered and chaotic spatio-temporal structures in nonlinear dynamical systems. Using asymptotic and computational mathematical methods, he has elucidated the formation of various types of localized waves in fluid dynamical systems. Recently, he has changed his research focus to computational neuroscience. With Dr. Friedrich at the MPI for Medical Research he will deepen his biological knowledge and develop a computational model to understand spatio-temporal activity patterns in the olfactory system. |
